Captain, leading scorer Ricardo Diegues earns All Southern Conference honors

Ricardo Diegues, the Lakeland Tropic's captain and leading goal scorer with 10, has been named to the Premier Development League's All Southern Conference team.

He was the only Tropics player to be so honored, although Victor Parreiras, earned an honorable mention selection.

Diegues was an all PDL Team of the Week honoree as well during the season for Week four, when he had three goals in two games.

FC Miami City had three players honored, and The VIllages SC two. The SIMA Aguilas, who won the nine-team southeastern division, was not represented on the first team.

Both SIMA and Miami advanced to the league playoffs, and both were knocked out by Mississippi Brilla FC. SIMA fell in the opening round, 4-3, while Miami was ousted in the second round on penalty kicks. 

The PDL championship game is set for Aug. 5. Joining Mississippi in the final four are the Thunder Bay Chill, Charlotte Eagles FC and Golden State Force.
