Match preview: Tropics second of three games in seven nights is tonight on road vs. Weston FC

WESTON, Fla. – The Lakeland Tropics will play the second of three matches in a seven night stretch Wednesday when they travel to the east coast to meet up with Weston FC. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Broward College Soccer Field.

Weston comes in 0-2-1, and still looking for their first goal of the 2018 season. However, they opened the season with a 0-0 tie against the first-place, and defending Southeastern Division champion SIMA Aguilas on May 12.

Lakeland enters 2-0-1, good for seven points and second place in the Southeast, after forging a 3-3 tie Sunday against North County United. There were four goals scored in the final 15 minutes of the game, including one from Captain Ricardo Diegues in the 88th minute to salvage the point.

Diegues, who led the Tropics with 10 goals last year, has a goal in each of Lakeland's three games so far in 2018.

The two teams played twice last year, with Lakeland snagging a 2-1 win on the road, and then picking up a 4-0 win at Bryant Stadium. Diegues had two goals in that win, while Juan Tejada, who scored last Sunday, also added a goal. Diegues also scored twice in the road triumph.

The Tropics will be back at Bryant Stadium Saturday night, June 2, in a 7 p.m. start against IMG Academy Bradenton. For more information, including tickets, visit www.tropicssoccer.com or call 863-240-0101.
